Lea is the most senior female monetary policy official at the Bank of England. She is the first female Head of the Inflation Report and Bulletin Division, and the first Head to work part time within it. Lea, a former Economics Editor for The Times, oversees the Bank of England’s quarterly Inflation Report, its flagship monetary policy publication that sets out detailed economic analysis and inflation projections, on which the Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee bases its interest rate decisions and presents an assessment of the prospects for UK inflation. Lea works 4 days a week when the report is due, and 3.5 days a week at other times. She works part time to spend more time with her three children.
